XML generator for Google Merchant Center and Google Shopping

XML feed generator for Google Merchant Center and Google Shopping in PrestaShop

The Google Merchant Center generator is one of the formats available in the PriceWars II module. It allows you to prepare an XML feed containing products from your PrestaShop store for use in Google Merchant Center, Google Shopping and Google product campaigns.

From one place, you can provide information about products, prices, availability, variants, product identifiers, categories and delivery.

The generator works as part of PriceWars II and uses its shared export configuration and management system.

What do you receive?

  • The ability to create multiple XML feeds
    You can prepare separate files for different Google Merchant Center accounts, languages, currencies, stores or selected parts of your catalog.
  • A preconfigured generator
    The default settings help you start preparing the feed more quickly, while the available options allow you to adapt it later.
  • Control over exported content
    You decide which products, categories and data should be provided to Google Merchant Center.
  • Automated data preparation
    After saving the configuration, the generator can update the file without requiring you to create every export manually.
  • Support for product variants
    Each attribute combination can be provided as a separate item in the Google feed.

Create multiple independent feeds for Google Merchant Center

Multiple independent XML feeds for Google Merchant Center

One store does not have to mean one XML file. You can create multiple generators and configure each of them independently.

Separate feeds can be prepared for different Google Merchant Center accounts, countries, languages, currencies, stores or selected product groups.

This means you do not need to divide the catalog manually or modify one file before providing it to another account or market.

Automate Google feed updates

Automated Google Merchant Center product feed updates

After configuring the generator, you do not need to prepare the feed from the beginning every time. PriceWars II organizes the data export process and reduces the amount of manual work required.

The updated file can include current store information such as prices, availability, descriptions and data assigned to individual variants.

This helps keep the product feed aligned with the current catalog in your store.

Control which products are sent to Google Shopping

Filtering products exported to Google Merchant Center and Google Shopping

Not every part of your catalog needs to be sent to Google Merchant Center. The generator allows you to limit the feed contents according to the rules used in your store.

You can select exported categories and exclude products that are:

  • inactive;
  • missing a manufacturer code;
  • missing an EAN13 code;
  • used or refurbished;
  • without a required promotion or minimum discount;
  • without an assigned manufacturer;
  • below or above a specified price;
  • not meeting specified inventory conditions.

This means that only the part of your catalog selected for use in the product catalog or campaign is provided to Google.

Select or exclude individual products

In addition to automatic rules, you can select individual products that should be included in or excluded from the export.

Individual items can be excluded using the free PriceWars Blacklist module. This lets you control exceptions that cannot be handled through categories, prices or other filters.

Map store categories to Google product categories

Mapping PrestaShop categories to Google product categories

The category structure in your store does not have to match the classification used by Google. The generator allows you to assign store categories to the appropriate Google product categories.

Category mapping lets you provide organized data without changing the entire PrestaShop category structure solely for export purposes.

Each store category can be matched with the appropriate location in the classification used by Google Merchant Center.

Export variants as separate products

Exporting product combinations to Google Merchant Center

Each attribute combination can be exported as a separate item in the XML file. This makes it possible to distinguish product variants such as color, size or another attribute used in your store.

Individual variants can provide their own prices, product identifiers, availability and other assigned information.

As a result, the Google catalog receives more precise data than when all combinations are presented as a single product.

Adapt product names for Google Merchant Center

Creating product names for Google Merchant Center and Google Shopping

The name used in your store may not contain all the information needed in the Google product catalog. The generator lets you decide how product names are saved in the XML feed.

You can:

  • export the standard product name;
  • add selected attributes or features to the name;
  • prepare your own product name template;
  • use the manufacturer, color, size, capacity or another product feature in the template;
  • apply transformation rules to selected parts of the product name.

The change applies only to data provided in the feed, so you do not need to modify the names displayed on product pages manually.

Create descriptions from product data

Creating product descriptions for Google Merchant Center

The generator can provide standard descriptions from your store or prepare content using your own template.

If a product does not have a ready description, the content can be created from its features and attributes. This allows you to use information already available in the catalog without manually completing every product description.

Organized and complete data provides the technical foundation for presenting products correctly in Google Merchant Center and Google Shopping. Campaign results also depend on the quality of your offer, advertising configuration and budget.

Provide complete product data to Google

Product identifiers, prices, availability, delivery and categories in a Google Merchant Center feed

Depending on the configuration, the XML file can contain the information required to identify and present products in Google Merchant Center.

  • Product identifiers
    EAN13, ISBN, UPC/JAN and manufacturer code.
  • Names and descriptions
    Standard store data or content prepared using your own templates.
  • Product prices
    The option to provide net or gross prices, depending on the generator configuration.
  • Availability and inventory
    Options for controlling how product availability information is provided.
  • Delivery costs
    Delivery information can be included to the extent supported by the format.
  • Google categories
    Product category export with the option to map categories to the Google classification.
  • Product labels
    Additional labels help organize products used in campaigns.

Control availability and delivery information

Product availability and delivery costs in Google Merchant Center

The generator provides options that let you modify how inventory information is sent.

You can adapt the data exported to Google without changing the actual stock levels stored in your shop.

Delivery cost information can also be included in the feed when it has been properly configured.

Support multiple languages, currencies and stores

The generator supports multiple languages, currencies and the Multistore environment. You can prepare separate XML files for different store versions, markets or Google Merchant Center accounts.

Each generator can have its own configuration, giving you control over which products and data are sent to a specific feed.

Extend the XML feed structure

Formatting data in a Google Merchant Center XML feed

Advanced options allow you to format selected data and prepare your own product name and description templates.

You can also add new tags to the XML file. This allows you to extend the export structure with additional information required by your process or by the supported format.

The Google Merchant Center generator is part of PriceWars II

The Google Merchant Center generator is not a separate, independent module. It is one of the XML formats available as part of PriceWars II.

By owning or purchasing a PriceWars II Light or PriceWars II Advanced license, you receive access to the generator with the functionality provided by the selected license version.

A comparison of the Advanced and Light versions is available on the main PriceWars II module page.
